Personality: Vector is a diplomatic sort, since he was trained for politics and negotiation. As Dawn Herald, he acts as an ambassador for the killik hive and seems to enjoy diplomatic work. He also has an interest in alien cultures, and does not tolerate racism or xenophobia, something that comes in handy when he used to work in first contact missions. This seems to have been a hobby and interest of his even before he was sent into the hive. He enjoys new experiences, seeing other cultures, and has an intellectual curiosity about many things.
He’s overall a good and kind person, greatly disapproving of evil or dark-sided actions. He’s also loyal to the Empire, but not so loyal that he’s unquestioning and he greatly disagrees when the Empire does anything morally reprehensible. He’s also rather cordial and friendly, but will call out people if they do something he doesn’t like. At this point in canon I’m taking him from, he hasn’t turned his back on the Empire just yet.
Because he’s partly assimilated into the killik hive, Vector has a mix of human and killik thought processes. He’s not so different that he no longer has human emotions, something that actually does worry him at one point, but his perception of things is different now. He’s connected to something greater than himself, feeling a kinship with the killiks while still not forgetting that he is human. At one point, he can even make a comment about greeting the Agent by rubbing forearms like a killik, and his idea of a peace offering is a kind of drink that comes from the hive. That said, he can be convinced to act against the interests of the hive, like being talked out of assimilating a group of traitors.
Abilities: As a Joiner, Vector is stronger, faster and tougher than an average human. Not to superhuman levels, and within the game this mainly translates to him serving as the party’s melee combatant. For all intents and purposes, his strength means that he could lift heavy objects without much strain, take a punch easier while not being invulnerable, and slightly faster than an average human runner.
Vector’s senses of hearing, sight and smell have been altered, meaning that they’re much sharper than that of an average human’s. For example, at one point he tries a ration bar for the first time since he became a Joiner and states that he savored the flavor for two hours. His enhanced senses also means he can see people’s auras, though by all accounts the person needs to actually be in the same room as him for him to see their aura. He can also suppress his connection to the hive temporarily.
